Illustrator

Heidi Calderon

I grew up in the magical world of Bronx, New York.  Many of my childhood days were spent drawing wonderful stories all over my bedroom walls and playing double Dutch. When I was not drawing; you could find me making crafts, reading, going on road trips and collecting vintage 80’s/90’s toys.  I was a kid about life, and having a life meant experiencing it in all the ways I could, utilizing every avenue possible.  One of my most memorable childhood moments was in 1996 when I received The Ezra Jack Keats Book making and illustration competition award.  As a kid, this meant the world to me, and ultimately the beginning of the rest of my life.

In 2014, I earned my BFA in Toy Design from the Fashion Institute of Technology, and landed a job with the toy company Mattel; prompting an immediate relocation to Madison, Wisconsin. As a Designer/Illustrator, I worked on legendary brands such as Polly Pocket, Hot Wheels, Monster High, and American Girl. I became a member of the Toy Industry Association in 2014.  All in all, making for a wonderful and wholesome experience.

These days I can be found illustrating pretty pictures while living a nomadic life with my fiancé Greg.
